The Undercover Bromance written by Lyssa Kay Adams is second book from the series next to the The Bromance Book Club. Though the readers can grasp the book to an extent without reading the previous book, the clear depth of the storyline and the identity of all individual characters can be understood only by reading the first one. This book is the story of Mack (Braden Mack/ Braden MacRae) a jovial and a witty person, who owns a series of Nashvile’s top night clubs. Mack thinks that he is an expert when it comes to romance and impressing women . There is also Liv papandreas a tough , arrogant and judgemental character ,sister of Thea from the first book. Liv has been pushing away everyone she loved or every one who she thinks to love her for the entire time convinced that she doesnt need anyone in life because unlike Thea , Liv has not yet learnt to let go her past. Mack tries hard to find his happily everafter which leads to series of breakup’s, atlast he manages take Gretchen, a public prosecutor to a third date to the most lavish restaurant (Savoy) owned by a famous celebrity chef Royce. Also, Mack orders a thousand dollor cupcake to impress Gretchen. Our Liv who was a pastry chef happens to work at Savoy, she was an expert in making pastry and dreamed of starting her own restaurant, she hated Royce as he was not the person who everyone thinks he is. Royce is an arrogant and abusive boss who steals recipes from his own employees and gets the credit for it.When Mack orders the cupcake, as a part of the package Royce along with the chef must directly deliver it to the customers table. As Royce and Liv approaches the table to deliver the cupcake Mack identifies Liv and introduces her to Gretchen as a result of events accidentaly Liv drops the cupcake and the thousand dollor cupcake goes poof!, when Liv thinks the day cant any worse she catches her boss sexually harrassing Jessica, one of the employees of Savoy as a result of the events Liv gets fired. Also for Mack he gets dumped by Gretchen .

Liv vows revenge, and to expose Royce’s fraudulent but she will need assistance to take down the famous chef that makes her to rely on Braden Mack for help. When Braden learns the truth about Royce he couldnt let it go, his superhero complex took over him. Even after being told to keep this as secret Mack immediately informs about the matter to some of his close friends from the book club. The Bromance Book club which is totally against toxic masculanity agrees to help Liv and Mack to bring down Royce. Liv struggles to proceed as Jessica strictly tell her to back off and declines her offer to help. As their impossible mission to bring down Royce is set to motion Mack and Liv gets attracted to eachother. Liv with her hard to get act tries to push Mack away but fails. On the verge of confronting Royce, Liv learns a truth about Mack’s identity which he had kept hidden everyone, this gives Liv a reason to push him away from her life. Mack on the other hand, falls head over heels for Liv, he keeps his identity hidden from everyone becuase of his abusive father and the shame it brought him. Mack wanted to have a fresh life leaving behind his past and scars it gave. Mack and Liv acknowledging their backstory on their journey towards bringing down a sexual harasser has been presented by the author in an interesting and fun way.

The book was totally a pleasant one to read. It was based on the MeToo moment stories which propably many are familiar with. The Bromance Book Club series is strongly a feminist theme where men try to express their gratitude to women for who they are; the entire storyline is presented in a funfilled way which makes the readers to enjoy the book. The story showed Mack as a serious character with a saviour complex, but I missed the Mack from the previous book who made me laugh out loud in so many places. I felt like the lol moments where absent in the book. I also missed the fun filled Bromance Book club scenes. While reading we can obviously sense the attraction Liv had towards Mack and viseversa, but I couldnt understand the moment their feelings changed to love it was like one moment they where standing teasing eachother and the next moment they where snuggling. The epilouge was not upto mark, the whole point of the story was to give voice for the sexually harassed women and to embrace their sacrifice but the epilouge was so vague that the story concluded without a proper conclusion. This was pleasant read but not a fun one like the first book, the Bromance book club story made me go in awe and it also increased my expectation for this book than needed.. Overall this book is a good one for romance readers.

“History was built by thousands of women who thought they were just housewives or just secretaries or just seamstresses until the day they got fed up and decided to fight back.”

“There’s no force on Earth as strong as a woman who is good and fed up.”
